DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The College is seeking a highly motivated, experienced individual for the position of Payroll Officer. Reporting to the Accounting Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible to:
- Prepare and process biweekly payroll for Adult Education and Tourism and Culinary Institute employees, adhering to a strict time schedule.
- Review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets; track and deduct all garnishments and other special payroll deductions.
- Coordinate efforts between payroll, human resources, finance, and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data.
- Verify and prepare ROE’s, T4’s, T4A’s, hire reports, EI requests, and WCB report.
- Balance year-end to Revenue Canada and verify discrepancies; balance fiscal year end to accrued payroll.
- Prepare monthly remittances to various organizations.
- Provide HR with yearly pensionable earnings and PA amounts for retiring employees.
- Act as back-up for the Ä¢¹½TV payroll as required.
- Prepare monthly reconciliation of Ä¢¹½TV bank account.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts to the bank statements.
- Prepare and maintain audit work papers an account analysis on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain up to date records of outstanding items and investigate unusual items.
- Prepare and post journal entries as related to the bank reconciliation.
- Set up accounts receivable vendors and prepare invoices for external billings.
- Prepare and process travel claims.
- Other duties as required.
